The IRS released its much anticipated revised Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 Lapsed Appropriations Contingency Plan on January 15. The IRS’s updated plan for agency operations during the 2019 tax filing season comes on the heels of several letters from top congressional tax writers requesting related information. The plan states that only 57.4 percent of IRS employees are expected to work during the 2019 tax filing season. The IRS is scheduled to begin processing returns for the 2018 tax year on January 28.
